Ionia Sentinel Standard, 13 Dec 1969

Eric Wendland, 67, of Grand Rapids, died early Saturday morning at Sunshine
hospital after being admitted Friday.  He was a former Ionia resident.  He was
born in 1902, in Berlin, Germany, and came to the United States in 1923, his
wife is from the Netherlands and they met and married in Ionia.  He moved from
Ionia to Grand Rapids in 1950.

While working in Ionia he worked as a tailor at Trojan Knitting Mills, having
worked previously as a tailor at Howard Dry Cleaners.  In Grand Rapids, he
worked as a tailor for Niemeyer’s Clothing Store.

Besides his wife, the former Genevieve Gaut, he leaves a son, Fred of Grand
Rapids, and a daughter Mrs. Cecil Wiseman of Ionia.

Mr. Wendland is VanStrien-Alman funeral home on Plainfield, N.E., Grand Rapids,
where funeral services will be Monday afternoon.
