The Ionia County News, Thursday, June 24, 1943
Mrs. Mary Wendland, 70, Hill street, died Sunday, June 20 following a cerebral 
hemorrhage.  She came to Ionia from Germany in 1887 and in 1901 was united in 
marriage with Godfried Wendland.  She is survived by a son, William, Muskegon 
Heights, her mother, Mrs. Marie Lemmin, a sister, Mrs. Ella Lemmin, her 
daughter, Mrs. M. Zanders, all of Ionia.

Rev. R. A. Rook of St. John Evangelical Lutheran church officiated at the 
funeral service held from the church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.  Burial was in 
Highland Park cemetery beside her husband who died ten years ago.
