Godfried Wentland, 73, died at his home on Hill Street Sunday afternoon at 3:30. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at the home at 2 o'clock and at the Lutheran church at 2:30. Burial will be in the Highland Park cemetery. Mr. Wentland was born in Germany August 20, 1859, and came to America nearly 50 years ago, locating at the time at Howard City. Not long after his arrival here he entered the employ of the Pere Marquette railroad and continued in its employ in various capacities until his health two weeks ago caused him to retire. He had been a coach cleaner, had worked on the section, and had been the flagman. He was a member of the Lutheran church. Surviving are the widow; three children, Mrs. Anna Young, of Hudson, William and Meta Wentland, of Ionia and a brother in Germany.
