Mrs. Werner suffered a stroke several years ago and had never been well since that time. Fourteen weeks ago she had another stroke and since then had been confined to her bed in care of a nurse. For the past two weeks she was cared for by Mrs. Camp, who was at her bedside when she passed away at 8:45 Sunday morning. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; one son, C.J., of Lansing, and one daughter, Mrs. Leonard Thomson of Ionia, and three grandchildren; three brothers: Cade Ayers of this city, Dean Ayers of North Baltimore, Ohio, and Jack Ayers of Saranac; one sister, Mrs. Augusta Cooper of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Werner had lived in and near this city for 45 years and they observed their 58th wedding anniversary on Sept. 20th, their present residence being at 804 S. Broas street. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:30 at the Ellis Funeral Home, with Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating and burial was in Otisco cemetery. Pallbearers were Stanley Ayers of Saranac, Art Werner of Muskegon, George Kohn of Palo, George Scheid, Harold Scheid and Ed. Werner.
