Werner, 86, of Portland, Michigan, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014. He was born on July 8, 1927, in Pewamo, Michigan, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Simon) Werner. Mr. Werner was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. Harold worked at TRW Automotive for 33 years, and also farmed. He was an avid hunter, enjoying his trips out west, and also spent many years camping with family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son, John; grandson, Cody Joseph; son-in-law, Rowland Martin; brothers, Irvine, Edgar and Frederick Werner; sisters, Rita Gregersen and Lillian Richardson. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Theola Werner; children, Susan (Rod) Hayes, Daniel (Jean) Werner, Catherine (Carl) Pratt, Bernard Werner, Patricia Ten Brink, Barbara Werner, Stephen Werner, Joseph (Sonda) Werner, John (Joyce) Werner, and Janine Martin; 20 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sister, Alma Hilley. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be provided by the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. A Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m., and a Scriptural Wake Service held at 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
