West, in his seventeenth year, departed this life, March 13th, 1874. Silas was a noble hearted young man and loved by all who knew him. He was always at meeting and the sabbath school and although he never made a public profession of religion, we all believe he gave his heart to God. He was heard to say, “O, how good the Lord is.” In Silas, the father and mother have lost an obedient son, and sisters, a cheerful and loving brother, the minister a true friend.
