The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, January 6, 1992

George H. Westbrook, 66, of Arnold Highway, Jasper, died Dec. 21 at his home.  
He was born April 1, 1925 in Ionia, the son of Mark and Leona Coe Westbrook.  
He was graduated from Ionia High School and attended an agricultural short 
course at Michigan State University.

He was married to the former Margaret Witt at St. Mary’s Church, Adrian, on 
April 13, 1948; she survives.

He farmed at his Jasper farm until he retired in 1987.  He was a member of the 
Farm Bureau, was a 4-H Club leader for 25 years, and served on the planning 
commission of Fairfield Township.  He was a member of the Dairy Herd 
Improvement Association of Lenawee County and on D.H.I.A.’s state board.  He 
was also a member of Northwest Co-op Association, the president of Ridgeville 
Cemetery Association, and was a past master and member of Fairfield Grange.  
He belonged to several western square dance clubs and was a member of St. 
Mary’s Church, Adrian.

Also surviving are three sons, Timothy and Aaron, both of Manitou Beach, and 
Lynn of Racine, Wis.; two grandsons; two brothers, Thomas and Robert, both of 
Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Wilfred Bird of Belding and Mrs. Colin Williams of 
Saranac; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral mass was held Dec. 24 from St. Mary’s Church, with the Rev. Louis 
Komorowski officiating.  Burial was in Ridgeville Cemetery, Jasper.  A 
memorial for Hospice of Lenawee was established, in care of Anderson Funeral 
Home, 3050 West Beecher, Adrian, Mich.  49221, which made arrangements.
