Westbrook Sr., 81, of Stanton, passed away Monday, June 28, 2004, at his home with his family at his side. Percy was born May 24, 1923 to Rosell and Laverena Ream Westbrook. He was raised in the Ionia, Grand Rapids and Cedar Springs areas. On November 2, 1949, in Luther, Percy married Lorain Doraelna Tava, the love of his life for more than 54 years. Percy was employed at Wolverine Brass Co. for more than 27 years and retired in 1985. He was a volunteer fireman for several years for the Wright-Tallmadge Townships Fire Department in Marne. Percy attended Entrican Bible Church. He was a jack-of-all-trades and his many hobbies included building, working in the garden and spending time outdoors. Percy was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Edward Elliott II; granddaughter, Amy Westbrook; brother, Kenneth Westbrook; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Westbrook. Percy is survived by his wife, Lorain; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Perry and Janice Westbrook of Grand Rapids, Jerry Westbrook of Wyoming, Mich., Percy Jr. and Cherly Westbrook of Byron Center, Don Westbrook of Stanton; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Keith Delay of Lakewood Colo., Terri Westbrook of Sheridan, Donna Rieckman of Stanton, Beatrice and Roger Burns of Lakeview; 13 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Leo Westbrook of Newaygo, Russell and Dorna Westbrook of Ovid, James and Vonda Westbrook of Sheridan, Vernon and Mary Westbrook of Grant; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sarah Udell of Traverse City, Violent Flynn, Gladys Moore of Luther, Kathleen and Charles Hendricks of Shelbyville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Entrican Bible Church with Pastors Eugene Kooi and Tommy Turner officiating. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brigham Funeral Chapel, Six Lakes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
