Norma was born on November 10, 1929 to Pansey (Joslyn) and Romeo Glossi. She was preceded in death by her son Robert H. Westbrook in 2013; six siblings, Samuel, Marie, Marian, Aline, Dorothy, and Jane; and is survived by brothers, Raymond and James (Pat) Glossi. She married Robert Westbrook in 1948, and resided for the remainder of her life, on the land they farmed for more than 50 years, in Ionia township. Bob preceded her in death in 2005. Norman graduated from Ionia High School in 1948 and continued to be a lifelong learner and seeker through a great deal of coursework, traveling, and reading. She travelled to Hawaii 22 times to visit her daughter, Natalie Morey, and twice to Italy, once with nieces, Barbara Reamer and Kathryn Kelly, and once recently with granddaughter, Elizabeth Shelley. Biographies were her favorite reading material. Norma was involved with many activities of the Ionia County Commission on Aging, and was particularly fond of her exercise class. She also enjoyed periodic trips with friends to Michigan casinos. She loved her family richly and deeply. She is survived and most fondly remembered by her children, Natalie (Roger) Morey of Ionia, James (Jane) Westbrook of Grand Rapids, Ross (Paula Maurer-Westbrook) Westbrook of Williamston, Mark (Mary-Jo) Westbrook of Shelbyville; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Shelley of Byron Center, Theodore (Tara) Westbrook of Grand Rapids, Thomas C. Westbrook of Covington, Kentucky, Jake Westbrook and Kate Westbrook of Shelbyville. The grandchildren were special joys of hr life, as were three great grandchildren, Evie Shelley, Laura Westbrook and Gene Westbrook. A memorial service will be held n Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. at Lyons-Muir Church, with Pastor Jon Van Dop officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., followed by the service, followed by a luncheon. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Lyons-Muir Church.
