Hunter was born near Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan February 2, 1842, and died January 31, 1903, after an illness of only two days when the voice of Him she loved spake the welcome words, “Enter thou into the joy of the thy Lord.” The funeral services were held at the Spencer Mill church February 2, conducted by the Rev. W. F. Kendrick, pastor of the M. E. church of Greenville, whose address was acknowledged by all as one of the finest ever given in the Spencer Mill church. Interment in Spencer Mill cemetery. At the age of four years she moved with her parents to the township of Keene, Ionia county, where she lived until grown to womanhood. At the age of 14 she made a profession of religion and joined the Methodist church in her neighborhood. January 1, 1866 she was married to John W. Westbrook of the same place who still survives her. Three children were born to them, Charles F. of this place; Willie J., who died at the age of five months and was buried at Palo; and Annie M., now Mrs. R. S. Bigley of near Saranac. Mrs. Westbrook was a woman of the highest moral character and was loved and respected by all who ever knew her and will be greatly missed by her many relatives and large circle of friends both in this vicinity and also in other places where she has resided. Her death will fall especially heavy on her husband who, with untiring love, watchful care and patience, shown through so many years of sickness and pain, has made her life extremely pleasant for one so frail.
