Thomas R. Westbrook, aged 87, of Ionia, passed away May 3, 2007. He was born 
July 3, 1919 in Ionia Township, MI the son of Mark and Leona (Coe) Westbrook. 
Tom married Margaret Moore March 30, 1946 in Ionia. She preceded him in death 
in 2005.

He farmed all his life at the family farm on Westbrook Rd and pioneered 
irrigation in the area. Tom was a WW II veteran in the Army and ranked as a 
staff sergeant while in service. He was a member of Saranac VFW and Michigan 
Farm Bureau. He was honored with many awards raising Red Poll Cattle.

He is survived by his son Thomas and Carolyn Westbrook of Saranac and daughter 
Ruth and Joseph Merrell III of Spring Lake; sisters Eleanor and Colin Williams 
of Saranac, and Dorothy and Glen Waters of Belding; grandchildren Megan and 
Michael Zambiasi of Spring Lake, Keisha Westbrook of Florida, Allison and Todd 
Wakerley of Spring Lake, Nicholas Westbrook of Saranac and his fiance` 
Randalyne King, Joseph Merrell IV of Tawain; great grandchildren Thomas, 
Stephen, Kyle , Liam and Cheyenne.; special friends Marilyn and Floyd Dilley 
of Muir.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers George and 
Robert.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Lyons-Muir Church with Rev. 
John Madvig officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives 2 to 4 
p.m. Sunday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia and also one half hour prior to the 
service at the church on Monday. Anyone wishing to make memorial contributions 
to Whispering Woods Activity Fund or Saranac Public Library.
