Westcott was injured so badly Sunday by being struck with a street car in Detroit that he died in Harper hospital about three hours later. Mr. and Mrs. Westcott were visiting their son, Herbert, in that city and Sunday went out for an auto ride with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Kline. On returning to the garage Mr. Westcott attempted to cross the street and was struck by a passing car, after he had avoided one going in the opposite direction. His skull was fractured and he sustained other bruises. At the hospital he was conscious all the time and made a fervent prayer, dying in the arms of his wife. The remains of Mr. Westcott were brought here to his late home, 814 Pearl street, Tuesday, where the funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock. The deceased was eight-two years old and was born in Richland, New York October 1, 1834, and was married to Julia E. Perkins in March, 1873 at Ross, Michigan. He was in Tennessee and Georgia for several years, later coming to Middleville, Mich., and then to Lakeview, where he pursued farming, moving to this city about four years ago. Mr. Westcott was a good carpenter and a man who could turn his hand to any work possessing a keen mind and was a first-class citizen. The deceased leaves besides his wife, four sons and two daughters—Arthur and George of Grand Rapids; Homer of Ludington; Herbert and Myrtle Kline of Detroit and Mrs. Chas. Murray of Belding. Four sisters and nine grandchildren survive him.
