She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Newaygo, the daughter of Walter and Ethel Richmond Cass. She was a veteran of World War II and had worked at General Motors. She married George Westman on May 27, 1949. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Westman, on Dec. 7, 1997; her parents; two brothers, Carlton and Charles; a daughter, Margaret Gay, in October 1996, a son, Jerrold in September 1969; two grandchildren, Robin Smith in September 1998 and Tammy Gringrich in October 1999. She is survived by her children, Nancy Shelton and fiancé Gary Richmond of Lake Stanton, Carol June and Joe Southwick of Cadillac, Sandy and Phil Stone of Muskegon, Karen and Jay Duquette of Okemos, Dennis Westman of Broken Arrow, Okla,., Terry Westman of Belding; son-in-law, Richard Rittersdorf of Greenville; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Charlene Hansen. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, with Pastor Kendall Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Interment is in Greene Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or the Ionia County Commission on Aging.
