He was found by Steve Sarley, a next door neighbor, who said he was unable to get any response when he knocked and found all doors locked. Sarley said he called neighbors and entered the house through a window and found four gas stove jets wide open. Coroner Orin Stone said no inquest would be necessary. Wetterling had lived alone for many years and operated a truck garden, raising vegetables and other supplies. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. George Hockstad, of Lansing, and Mable, a teacher in northern Michigan. He has been reported ill for some time but had continued his work in the gardens to the extent that he was able. Wetterling was last seen Wednesday afternoon about 5:30 o’clock and a light which he usually kept burning all night, was seen in his home about 8 or 9 o’clock last night. Funeral services for Carl Wetterling will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Stone funeral home. Interment at the family lot, Highland Park cemetery.
