Ionia Sentinel - 2 June 1926
The funeral services of Mrs. George Wheaton, Grand Rapids, were held from the 
Ionia Church of Christ Tuesday afternoon.  Rev. H. G. Hurrell was in charge of 
the services.  The burial took place in Highland Park Cemetery.  Mrs. Wheaton 
was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gorham Smith, at one time prominent farmers 
living south of Ionia.  She was ill for some time with paralysis and her 
husband is in a critical condition from cancer and after the death of his wife 
began to fall much more rapidly.

Surviving Mrs. Wheaton, besides the husband, are several children, Mrs. Ray 
Eckert, Lowell; Mrs. Vannie Green, Clarence Wheaton, Lyle Wheaton, Carl and 
Dell Weatherby, of Grand Rapids and Guy, of Texas.  A son Bruce Wheaton, died 
in Ionia county a few years ago following a fall from a windmill.  Ambrose 
Smith, of Ionia, is a brother.
