Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard – Wed. Dec. 12, 1928

The funeral for Mrs. Almeda Wheaton, who died at an advanced age at the home of 
her grandson in Port Huron Thursday, December 6, was held from the Baptist 
church Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Wheaton was a member of the Palo Baptist church 
having been a resident here for many years, living on the farm now owned by Roy 
Wright until after the death of her husband when she moved into town, where she 
lived until old age and poor health came upon her when she went to live with a 
grandson whom she had raised after the death of his mother when a small boy, 
and who gave her the attention and care of a son during her declining years. 
The one remaining daughter, Mrs. Maud Gates, was with her mother, assisting in 
caring for her for several weeks during a long illness. Burial was made in the 
Palo cemetery beside her husband who passed away several years ago.
