Ionia Sentinel-Standard – Sat. Aug. 27, 1988

SARANAC- Iva Cahoon Wheaton, 74, of 268 Orchard Street, Saranac, died 
unexpectedly Friday evening.

Born in Keen Township March 28, 1914, she was the daughter of William and Mary 
Howe Rickert.  She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church and was a lifelong 
resident of the Saranac area.

She was married to Ralph Wheaton Feb. 3, 1984, in Saranac; he survives.

Also surviving are two sins, Rex Cahoon of Colorado and Richard Cahoon of 
Saranac; three daughters, Mrs. James (Janice Kelly of Saranac; Mrs. Hugh 
(Naurine) Sloane of Haslett, and Mrs. Ronald ( Marie) Prevost of Kentwood; nine 
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, 
a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. from Galilee Baptist Church, the Rev. 
James Frank officiating.

Burial will be in Saranac Cemetery.

The family will be at Lake Funeral Home, Saranac, Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. 
and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorials have been established for Galilee Baptist Church and the American 
Heart Fund, in care of the funeral home.
