Highland Park Cemetery

IONIA- Marjorie A. Wheaton, 91, of Ionia died Saturday, Dec. 20 at Ionia County 
Memorial Hospital.

Marjorie Agnes Wheaton was born Dec. 11, 1906 in Ionia, the daughter of Victor 
B. and Nellie E. (Davidson) Wheaton. She grew up in Ionia and graduated from 
high school in Ionia in 1924. She was a teller for Independent Bank for 37 
years, retiring in 1971. She also was an accomplished pianist, playing for many 
years at local dances, at the Family Theater, for prisoners at the Reformatory, 
and for the Lions and Rotary clubs. She was an avid reader, liked to bowl, and 
was a very interesting historian.

She is survived by one sister, Helen (Donald) Hartley of Belding; four sisters-
in-law, Helen Wheaton of Cornwell, N. Y. Winnie Wheaton of Dripping Springs, 
Texas and Alice Wheaton and Margaret Wheaton, both of Ionia; and many nieces 
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, James R., Stanley, 
Clare A., and W. Kenneth Wheaton.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. from the Cook 
Funeral Home, Rich Street Chapel, with Rev. Lawrence Hodge of the First United 
Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery. 
Visitation will be at the Cook Funeral Home, Rich St. Chapel, in Ionia Monday 
from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors’ choice. 
Envelopes are available at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.
