He was born in New York City in 1798. At 12 years of age he went on a sailing vessel and was gone two years and when he returned could find no trace of his parents, and never heard of them afterwards. He came to Michigan in 1856, where he resided to the day of his death. He leaves two sons, Rial and Stephen, who with their families are all the relatives the old gentleman knew anything about. The funeral services were held Sunday at the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. J. Bailey.
