Harold L. Wheelock, 86, of Saranac passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002.

He was born Aug. 30, 1915 in Cassopolis, the son of Herbert and Jessie 
(Broderick) Wheelock.  He married June Vanocker, who preceded him in death in 
1988.  He went on to marry Virginia Cox on May 26, 1989.  He was a veteran of 
World War II and a life member of the VFW in Saranac.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Wheelock of Saranac; son, Bruce R. 
Wheelock of Newaygo; step-sons, Robert Fawcett of Virginia and Raymond E. 
Fawcett of Muskegon; step-daughters Joyce (Paul) Gibowski of Saginaw; Susanna 
(Eugene) Ostrander of Lansing and Esther Brockway of Lansing; brother, L.D. 
(Arlene) Wheelock of Greenville; one granddaughter; and three great-
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Maxine; and one son, 
John.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with 
Rev. Bruce Chapman officiating.  Visitation will begin at noon and continue 
until the time of the service, Wednesday at the funeral home.  Anyone wishing 
may make a memorial contribution to the Ionia Area Hospice.  Envelopes 
available at the funeral home.
