Dwight D. Whipple, 72, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2011. 
Dwight was born and raised in Ionia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Whipple (nee Thorp); parents, 
Dwight Sr. and Olive Whipple; and in-laws Myrtle and Elton Thorp and Art 
Swanson.

He is survived by his children, Patti (Ed) Reynolds and David (Amy) Whipple; 
six grandchildren, Katy, Patrick, Betsy and Trisha Reynolds, Sam and Hollee 
Whipple; beloved friend Barb Schoendorf; brother Clyde (Sonja) Whipple; niece 
Linda (Dave) Todd and their daughter Sally; nephew Tom Whipple; and many 
friends from Grand Rapids, Ionia and lake City.

Dwight worked for nearly 50 years in accounting and office management and 
enjoyed volunteering as a driver for the Ronald McDonald House.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Mayflower Congregational 
Church. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the 
Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home and on Saturday a half hour before the service 
from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Ronald McDonald 
House or Mayflower Congregational Church. The family is being served by Metcalf 
& Jonkhoff Funeral Service, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE at Kenmoor, Grand Rapids,
