Ionia Standard, 19 Mar 1891

Benjamin Whipple, who died in Spokane Falls, recently, will be remembered as an
elder brother of John Whipple, steward of the S. H. of C., who was well known
here at an early day.  He was one of the “49ers” who went to California and
returned to Ionia in the early “fifties.”  At the time of his death he was about
to 70 years old.
