The Portland Observer, Thursday, January 4, 1923

The death of Mrs. Vern Whitacre occurred at noon today, at her home in Danby 
township, following a short illness, on the anniversary of her sixteenth 
birthday.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Prentice of Portland and 
besides the husband and parents, leaves a baby boy that was born on New Year’s 
day.  As the Observer goes to press no funereal arrangements have been made.
