LAKE ODESSA- Dixie Whitaker, 69, of Lake Odessa, died Sunday in Provincial 
House, Hastings.

Born Feb. 24, 1917, in Prestonsburg, Ky., she was the daughter of James and 
Melinda Lafferty and was married to Taylor DeRossett, he died July 7, 1944. She 
was later married to Turner Whitaker, he died August 1974.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine Peters of Lake Odessa and Delores Drew of 
Munith, two sons, Jerry DeRossett of Prestonsburg, Ky., and Rodney DeRossett of 
Munith, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Bill Lafferty of Lantona, Fla., three sisters, 
Pearlie Stapleton and Lizzie Burkett of Allen, Ky., and Alta Wallen of 
Williamsport, Ky.

A son, four grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in 
death.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Koops Funeral Chapel, 
Lake Odessa, with the Rev. George Aton officiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
