Hattie Whitby dies; Rites held

   Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, April 1, at the Morris 
Funeral Home in Saranac, Michigan, for Mrs. Hattie Whitby, a Boston Township 
resident. 

   Mrs. Whitby passed away Thursday, March 29, at Wyntjes Nursing home in 
Lowell, following an extended illnes. She was 79 years old. 

   Hattie E Grummonds was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grummonds at Tustin, 
Michigan, August 27, 1886, and moved to the Saranac area in her youth. 

   She was married to Otis R. Whitby and they lived in Boston Township all 
of their married life. He preceded her in death January 17, 1966.

   Mrs. Whitby is survived by one son, Robert of Route 3, Lowell; one 
daughter, Mrs. Beulah Crankshaw of Lowell; 2 grandchildren' and 3 great-
grandchildren. The Rev. James Frank officiated at the last rites and 
interment was made in the Saranac Cemetery.


Additional Comments:
Have found Hattie's maiden name spelled many ways including; Grumns and 
Grommon.
