He had been in ill health for the past two years and was recently moved from the hospital to a rest home. He was born November 15, 1885 in Otisco township the son of Frank and Clarisa White. He attended Cook’s Corners school and later business college in Greenville two years. In 1907 he was married in Ionia to Lynne Pierce. He owned and operated a farm in Easton township 37 years during which time he served two years as township highway commissioner. After moving to Ionia he was employed at the Ionia Manufacturing Co., previous to his retirement four years ago. Besides his wife, Lynne, he is survived by two sons, George of Flint, and Phil of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. Leon (Ailene) Carpenter of St. Johns; one sister, Mrs. J. D. (Abby) Cooper of Belding and 15 grandchildren; two sons, John and Frank preceded him in death in 1950 and 1952. Funeral service will be Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Phelps funeral chapel and interment will be in the family lot at Easton cemetery. Members of the family will be at Phelps funeral chapel Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 o’clock to receive friends.
