Ionia Sentinel, 12 Apr 1872

Died – In Campbell, Ionia Co., Mich., April 7th, 1872, Stephen White.  The 
subject of our sketch was eighty-two years of age, and one of the early 
settlers of Ionia County.  By his integrity of character and kindly 
disposition, he has, during his 32 years of residence in this county, made many 
warm friends.  He was, I think the oldest Free Mason in the State, having been 
made a Master Mason in New York in the year 1811, and has been an honor to the 
order during all these long years.  He was also a worthy member of the first 
Baptist Church of Saranac since 1854, and a living Christian man, whose 
influence has told for the Master in the community where he lived.  He leaves a 
large family of children and grandchildren, who feel deeply their loss.  His 
last hours were full of joy in prospect of future glory.  The funeral services 
were conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. R. Hicks.
