The Ionia Standard, Friday, July 15, 1910

James White of Collins was killed while making a balloon ascension at Caro on 
July 4th.  He had gone up about 100 feet, when his balloon burst and fell upon 
the parachute, throwing him to the earth, in the fall breaking his neck, jaw 
and both legs.  He died soon after.  Deceased belonged to a family of 
aeronauts, and was well known in Ionia.
