Ionia Daily Sentinel, 17 Apr 1919

Cynthia M. Packard, one of a family of eight children, was born in Ashfield,
Mass., Dec. 21, 1831, where she lived until she reached the age of 23, going
with her father to Bear Creek, Wisconsin.  In her young womanhood, she taught
school many years, and as one of the pioneers knew all about the hardships of
the early days.

She was married in June, 1863, to Jacob White in Wisconsin, and resided in
Wisconsin and Iowa.  To this union there were born three children: Edith A. and
Charles H. of Orleans, and Fred G. White of Ionia.  After the death of her
husband, she taught school for several years to support her little ones, proving
her worth as a mother and home provider.  Her devotion to her loved ones was
worthy of comment.  She came to Michigan from Wisconsin 25 years ago and settled
in Orleans where she has since resided.

Mrs. White passed away April 8, 1919, having been afflicted with bronchial
pneumonia.  She leaves besides the sons, daughter and daughter-in-law, one
brother, Charles H. of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and one sister, Cornelia B. Lyon of New
London, Wisconsin.

There are lives which are lived not in the public eye but in humble sphere, and
yet are not without their inestimable value to the world, and hers was one of
these.  

The funeral was held at the home in Orleans township Friday at 10…
