The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, June 1, 1937

George White, Jr., 48 years of age, who lived in South Ionia, died at the 
hospital in Ann Arbor at 9:45 o’clock Monday night after an illness of the 
past two weeks.

He was born in Ferris township in Montcalm county November 6, 1888, a son of 
Mr. and Mrs. George F. White.  On October 7, 1908 he was married to Miss 
Nellie White of Montcalm county, at Stanton.  He was a well-known resident 
having lived in North Plains and Lyons before coming to Ionia from Palo eight 
years ago.  He was a worker on the county road commission, having been 
employed there since coming here eight years ago.  He was a world war veteran, 
having served at Vancouver, Wash., a member of the American Legion, and a 
member of the Palo IOOF No. 341.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie; his father, George F White, Sr., of Lyons, 
one son, Robert, with whom he lived in South Ionia; four grandchildren; five 
brothers, Frank of Lyons, Charles of Lyons, John of Shiloh, Bob of Lyons and 
Carl of Lansing; and two sisters, Mrs. Hiram Moore of Leslie and Mrs. Lillie 
Wedge of Ionia.

Funeral services will be announced as soon as completed.

Funeral services for George White, Jr., of South Ionia, who died Monday night 
will be held from the home in South Ionia, Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  He 
had lived in Ionia for the past eight years where he worked for the Ionia 
county road commission.  He had been employed there for seven years before 
moving to Ionia.  Rev. E. J. Nest of the St. Paul’s Lutheran church, will 
conduct the services.
