The discovery was made by Charles Oberson and Amos Bedell, members of a searching party of two score men hastily organized when it was reported that White had been missing from the home of Roy Robbins, where he had lived for some time, since last Thursday afternoon. Coroner John J. McCann declared the body bore evidence that White undoubtedly had swallowed carbolic acid or a similar potent poison to end his life. He had, it was stated, attempted to end his life last June by half-burying himself in the sludge of a nearby drainage canal and taking chloroform.
