White, formerly of Ionia, died at Niles on Friday, and the body was brought here on the 4:03 train Sat. afternoon for burial. He died at the home of his son, W. R. White, junior, with whom he has lived since the death of his wife in Indiana. Mr. White was a patternmaker here, working under Master Mechanic George C. Watrous at the Pere Marquette shops for many years. The family lived on East Washington street. They went from here to Indiana, and after the death of Mrs. White, Mr. White went to his son, who then lived in Chicago, where he still has his business. Later they moved to Niles. A second son, Eli, lives at Plainwell, Michigan. Both are married. The body was buried in the Balcom cemetery, where Mrs. White was buried some years ago, but the exact arrangements are not yet made. The body was taken from the train to the undertaking rooms of Lowrey & Boynton, who will have charge of the burial. Deceased was aged 83 years. The services will probably be held Sunday. Mr. White was a member of the Masonic order. Deceased was among the last of those who went from the old railroad shops, located west in next block from the present P.M. depot, to the new. Subsequent publication, dated unknown: Rev. A. R. Mitchell conducted the brief service at Balcom cemetery Saturday afternoon when W. R. White was buried beside his wife in the family lot. The body was brought here from Niles, where the funeral service was held. The bearers were Charles Dolson, James Callow, Abe. Englemann and W. L. Beals, all old shop-mates in the Pere Marquette shops here. Relatives who came here for the burial were Mr. and Mrs. W. R. White, jr., Lieut. and Mrs. Stuart B. White, Lieut. and Mrs. John Riley, all of Niles, Mr. and Mrs. Eli White of Plainwell, Mrs. E. J. Beardsley and Mrs. Clayton Leddich of Sheridan. The two lieutenants drove back to Camp Custer Sunday.
