Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Fri. June 25, 1965

Robert W. White, 55 of Parmeter road, Ionia died Friday in Butterworth hospital 
at 6:30 a.m. after open heart surgery. He had been a patient there since June 9.

Mr. White was born in Lyons, August 24, 1909, the son of George and Nellie 
Hopkins White. He married Margarite Bemis November 22, 1929, and has lived his 
entire married life in Ionia. Mr. White had spent the past six  years in his 
present home. He was an employee of Ionia county road commission 14 years 
before going to work for Mitchell-Bentley corporation where he retired in 1957 
after 12 years due to ill health.

A harness racing enthusiast Mr. White was a member of the Michigan and United 
States Trotting association and participated in racing events all his life. He 
was also a member of St. Johns Episcopal church where he was a member of the 
vestry and delegate to the diocesan convention. 

Surviving are his wife Margarite, four sons, Jerry, Robert and Gary of Ionia, 
and Donald of Greenville; his mother, Mrs. Nellie Hart of Lyons and nine 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Johns Episcopal church with 
interment in Easton cemetery. The Rev. Father Bierlein will officiate. Mr. 
White will be at Boynton funeral home until the funeral.
