He was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Belding, son of the late George LeRoy and Bessie Lindsey White. On Jan. 31, 1942, he married the former Ellen “Mickey” Sterling. She preceded him in death in 1994. He then married the former Janet L. Bange on Oct. 22, 1994, who survives. Mr. White attended Belding High School. In his late teen years, LG left home to join the circus. He participated in a variety of jobs including performing as an escape artist. Mr. White was later employed at the Willow Run Bomber Plant, where he helped build B-24 Bombers. In 1942, LG volunteered to join the Navy, where he held the rank of Quartermaster Third Class. During his service, he served on the vessels USS Bancroft and USS Oconto. Among the medals he received were the American Theatre, Asiatic Pacific (3 stars), Philippine Liberation, and Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged Jan. 19, 1946. Upon his return to Michigan, LG was employed by Darling Freight, as a truck driver. Eventually, he went to work for Bastain and Blessing Co., Grand Haven, producing restaurant and soda fountain equipment for 18 years. As a young lad, LG heeded his parents’ teaching and gave his heart to the Lord. Later, in his teen years, he saw the Christian life as burdensome and restrictive and he left home for a life that seemed more exciting. But it was 2:00 a.m. on a morning in 1953 that he remembered vividly, when he stopped running and returned in dedication to the Lord. Mr. White marveled at how the Lord had led him and blessed him after that time. He was a pastor at Wolf Lake Wesleyan Holiness Church, Wolf Lake, for seven years before moving to Millmont in 1970. Mr. White owned and operated Keystone Services, Inc., which installed and remodeled kitchens for McDonald’s and Burger King restaurants. He also installed the kitchen equipment at God’s Bible School, Cincinnati, Ohio, of which made him very happy. Mr. White attended the God’s Missionary Church, New Columbia. LG was instrumental in the building of Evangelical Methodist Church, RR2 Mifflinburg. He enjoyed fishing and reading his Bible. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Joe L. White of Millmont; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kaye and Gilbert Delamater of Six Lakes, Darlene and Greg Lewis of Midland, and Dawn and Bob Woodard of Cincinnati, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Joy A.
