Aunt Jennie White, aged 91 years and a pioneer resident of the farming section west of this city in the Smyrna and Button school district is dead. The death of this aged, venerable and loved woman took place at her old home Sunday evening and was caused by shock, which followed a fall in her home on Monday of last week, at which time she fractured the two bones in her left forearm, a short distance above the wrist. The nature of the break was serious and what is referred to by surgeons as an “impacted” fracture. After the fall Mrs. White was brought to this city and X-ray photographs were taken of the injury but Dr. Dutt, who attended her, stated that her condition, following the fall, was critical and hopes for her recovery were none too high. Mrs. White was born Jane Ann Tucks, on August 13th, 1850, at Vergennes and had spent her entire life in this section of the state. March 25th, 1872, she was united in marriage to Walter White and they took up their residence on the farm where Mr. White passed away nine years ago and where at the time of her death, Sunday, Mrs. White had lived for a total of 69 years. “Aunt Jennie” as she was affectionately known, had no children of her own, but she and her husband had brought up a niece, Miss Grace Moon, who with another niece, Mrs. Bessie Reeves, of Smyrna and a nephew, Harry Moon, of Fremont, survive. Funeral services in charge of Arthur J. Fitzjohn, funeral director of this city, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at her late home, with Rev. Hubert S. Ellis officiating and burial was in the family lot in Smyrna cemetery.
