Ionia Daily Sentinel - Tuesday, July 2, 1907

Belding, Mich., July 2 - Otto White, seven-year-old son of Mrs. James Granger, 
was drowned in Flat river, Monday afternoon.

The lad was paddling about the river in a canoe when he went through the gates 
of the Richardson company and was thrown out and sank at the foot of the slash 
board. The body was recovered in 35 minutes. All efforts at resuscitation 
proved unavailing.
