Mrs. Clara White, 64, widow of John White, died at the University Hospital, 
Ann Arbor, Sunday evening, where she had been a patient about four weeks.  She 
had submitted to surgery there several months ago, and had been home for 
sometime before she returned for further treatment.  

Mrs. White, the daughter of Ira B. and Nora (Phelps) Hendee, was born January 
31, 1887 at Mt. Pleasant, but had been a resident here for several years.  

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. M. E. Bowen of Lawrence, Mrs. Joseph Speas 
and Mrs. Ivan Courtnay of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Howard Speas of Youngsville, Pa., 
and Mrs. Francis Ross of Walsh, Colo.; 21 grandchildren and one great-
grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Ed. Kirker, of Holt; four brothers, Glenn Hendee 
of Woodland, Leon of Grand Rapids, Hal of Portland and Merl of Comstock Park.  
Mr. White died about 13 years ago.

Mrs. White reposed at the Peckins Chapel until Wednesday noon and was then 
taken to the Calvary U-B Church were services were held with Rev. M. H. 
Davison officiating.  Burial in Portland cemetery.
