Aug. 17, 2017 PHYLLIS WHITELOCK 1932-2017 Phyllis May Erridge-Whitelock, 84, with her family by her side, was taken to heaven by the loving arms of Jesus. Born in what was known as the "girl scout house" on September 25, 1932. Daughter of John Erridge and Rita (Hummel) Erridge, born and raised in Ionia, Michigan and attended Ionia schools. She married George Whitelock on April 19, 1952, together they had three children, Lee Ann (Jim) Aikens of Orleans, Susan (Randy) McCoy of Ionia, and Thomas (Diana) Whitelock of Ionia. Grandchildren, Tracy (Scott) Hull of Orleans, Missy (Chris) Conley of Belding, Angie (Craig) Walch of Fenwick, Christopher (Itzel) McCoy of Ionia, Stacy (Josh) McKinch of Saranac, Stephanie Whitelock of Ionia, and Ryan Whitelock of Ionia, along with twenty one great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren with another on the way in September. Phyllis was an employee at Chrysler in Lyons for many years, as well as Frigidaire, Belding/Greenville before retiring and settling back into her family home where she was raised at Prairie Creek. Phyllis was a giving hardworking and determined woman with all kinds of love to give, unconditionally. She enjoyed her family, she put 100% into being a good role model and the backbone of a family who admired the woman she was. She kept every piece of memorabilia there had been made from her family, from ice accidents to marriage or birth announcements. She was a proud lady. Phyllis was stubborn or as she recently called herself "set in her ways," which reflected in her ways as she enjoyed putting her pure determination into her yard and home, making sure it was just perfect for her liking and fixing things that may have not have even needed to be fixed. She was dedicated to her family and will be missed beyond belief. Preceded in death by her mom, Rita Hummel and dad, John Erridge; husband, George Whitelock; son, Thomas Whitelock; brother, John Erridge; sister Audrey Garfield; sister, Kay Crissman; special, Doug White, whom she took part in raising. Family will accept visitors as we have a Celebration of Life, Friday, Aug. 18, 2017 from 1-4 p.m. at 223 Third Street, Ionia. Ice cream was her favorite, so we will be having an ice cream sundar bar. A private family burial will be held at Balcom Cemetery. A special thanks to Cal Chapman for being our family helper and for always being there to check on or to do anything that was asked of him by Phyllis. Thank you for special care given by Jennifer and Dr. Rouse from Faith Hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to Lehman Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
