The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Friday, February 2, 1940
William V. Whitelock, 73, died at his home on Colby street Friday morning, 
February 2, after a long illness.  Mr. Whitelock was born in Poland, January 
2, 1867, and he came to the United States in 1883 at the age of 16.  In 1893 
he was married to Veronica Ann Wisner at the SS Peter and Paul church in 
Ionia.  For many years he was employed by the Ionia Gas and Light company and 
later by the Consumers Power company.  The past few years he had been unable 
to work because of ill health.

Surviving are the widow, three sons, John of Portland, William of Ionia and 
George of Lansing; one brother, Lawrence of Grand Rapids; one sister, Mrs. 
Joseph Powell Sr., of Ionia, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9 o’clock from SS Peter and 
Paul church.  Interment will be in the family lot in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.  
Rosary sessions will be held at the home, 308 Colby street, Sunday evening, 
February 4, at 8:15 o’clock.
