Whitelock, 65, of Long lake, died Tuesday morning at Veterans facility hospital in Grand Rapids following a lingering illness. He was born November 12, 1898, the son of Valentine and Veronica Wisner Whitelock and had lived his entire life in the vicinity of Ionia. He attended Ionia public schools and in 1925 was married to Matilda Huhn. Mr. Whitelock was a veteran of World War I and a member of SS. Peter and Paul church. He worked at Ionia Manufacturing company and was later employed at Hayes in Grand Rapids. Survivors include three sons, George Whitelock of Ionia, Richard of Pennsylvania, and Fred of Belding; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Ameel of Orleans; six grandchildren; and a brother, George Whitelock of Saranac. Rosary will be recited at Myers funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at SS. Peter and Paul church followed by interment at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
