The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Thursday, November 19, 1914

James Whiting, for many years a resident of Ionia died at the Traverse City 
hospital this morning and the remains will be brought here tonight or tomorrow 
for burial.  The funeral services will be held at the residence on North Rich 
street Sunday afternoon.  Mr. Whiting has been at Traverse City for several 
years.  He was a veteran of the civil war and a well known resident of this 
city.  He leaves three children, one son, John in the west and two daughters, 
Mrs. Ralph Smith and Erma of this city. Mrs. Whiting also survives him.  The 
funeral will be private.
