Harold W. Whitlock, 83, of Portland died July 27, 1997.  He was born Jan. 5,
1914 in Portland, the son of Orville and Nettie (Webb) Whitlock.  He was a
veteran of World War II – U.S. Army.  He was a retired farmer and General Motors
employee.  He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Ionia.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; one daughter, Christine (Daniel) Hubbard of
Columbus, Ohio; one son, Michael (Melody) Whitlock of Cincinnati, Ohio; and
three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister,
Anna Cutler.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 29 at 1 p.m. at St. Johns Lutheran
Church, 617 N. Jefferson, Ionia, with the Rev. William B. Wagner, pastor,
officiating.  Interment will follow in Portland Cemetery in Portland.  The
family will receive friends at the Gorsline-Runciman Neller Chapel, 210 Bridge
St., Portland, Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Those desiring may make
contributions to the church in memory of Mr. Whitlock.
