Mrs. Whitman passed away at the home of her son, George, at Traverse City February 25th, at the age of 81 years. Born in Ionia county October 7, 1865, she came to New Haven township in 1886 and has since resided there with the exception of the past four years when she went to the home of her son in Traverse City to spend the winters. She was united in marriage to Douglas Whitman in 1887, and to this union were born four children, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Edna Topper of New Haven township, George of Traverse City, John and Merle of New Haven township. Besides these she is survived by one sister, Lydia Dick of Grand Ledge; two brothers, James Ludwick of Muskegon and Charles Ludwick of Muir; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the United Brethren Church. The Reverends Glenn Bugbee and B. L. Blem officiated at the services which were in charge of the Gunther Funeral Home of Carson City. Interment was made in the New Haven cemetery.
