The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Friday, September 8, 1933

Mrs. Nellie Whitmyer, 68, widow of John T. Whitmyer, who for years owned and 
operated the Whitmyer orchards east of Ionia, died at her home in Lansing 
Thursday morning.  Funeral services will be conducted at the Palmer-O’Connell 
funeral home, Lansing, Saturday morning, and the burial will take place in the 
Highland Park cemetery Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Whitmyer leaves two sons, Freeman and his five children, John, Fred, 
Ralph, Richard, and Esterbelle, all of Okemos, and Foster, of Lansing; a 
brother, William Freeman, of California.

Mrs. Whitmyer was born in Ionia and resided for years across from the Reed Inn 
site, formerly that of the Callow house.  She was educated in the Ionia 
schools.  She was a charter member of the royal Neighbors of Ionia.
