Belding – Richard “Dick” Whitney, 67, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, Sept.
16, 1997, at his residence.  He was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Belding, to Homer H.
and Dora Meyers Whitney.  He was a graduate of Belding High School with the
class of 1948.  He retired in 1990 as supervisor from Extruded Metals after 38
years.  He was a member of the Greenville Moose Lodge.

He was married July 1, 1949, in Belding to Peggy Jeffery.  She survives with
their children, Debra and Willie Jeffery, Cindy and Randy Strouse, Ron and Ann
Whitney, all of Belding, Trudie Franklin and special friend Doug Gachter of
Sheridan, Rick and Linda Whitney of Greenville; 15 grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Rosie and Marlin Jeffrey of
Belding; and one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Jan Whitney of
Greenville.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold
Whitney, in 1944.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
