Bracken, Monday, Nov. 29, at 7 o’clock p.m., where he has lived for the past eleven years, aged 86 years. The deceased was born in County Kerry, Ireland, March 25, 1823, coming to Quebec, Canada, in 1845, where he settled on a farm. He was united in marriage to Joanna O’Brien and four daughters were born to them, Mrs. Wm. Kenyon of Newport, Vt., Mrs. Thos. Bracken and Miss Joanna Whitston of Belding and Sister Francesca of New Orleans. Mrs. Whitston died nine years ago. The children were all present at their father’s bedside when death came except Sister Francesca. Mr. Whitston loved his home here and was seldom away, always at work doing something when health permitted. He will be greatly missed by his family, to whom he was very devoted. The funeral service was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Wednesday morning, Fr. Zindler officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery. Miss Anna Bracken was home from Kalamazoo to attend the funeral.
