Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Tues, March 20, 2012

Mrs. Anna Whittington, 95, of Ionia, passed away on March 16, 2012 at her home.

She was born in Ionia on Dec. 27, 1916, the daughter of Max and Anna (Hassler) 
Hahn. 

Anna graduated from Ionia High School in 1970.

She married Louis Lemke Sr. on July 4, 1936 and later married Floyd Whittington 
on May 26, 1937. She worked for J.C. Penny in Ionia for 10 years. She was a 
life-long member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church of Ionia.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Louis Lemke Sr. in 1968 and Floyd 
Whittington in 1982; her son, Louis Lemke Jr. in 2007; son-in-law, Lawrence 
Wizorek in 2008; grandson, Richard Hills in 2000; sisters, Millard Simmons and 
Irene Connor; and brothers, Erwin Hahn and Clarence Hahn.

Surviving are her children, Nancy Wizorek of Ionia, Mary (Joe) Villela of Ocean 
Side, Calif., Barbara (Jim) Burrell of Saranac, Joe (Brenda) Lemke of Lyons, 
Judy Lemke of Muir; sister-in-law, Agnes Hahn of Jackson; 32 grandchildren; 
several great- and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Anna enjoyed golfing, bowling, swimming, bridge, reading, crossword puzzles and 
fishing. 

The Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Lake 
funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. The family will 
receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the Lake Funeral 
Home in Ionia.

In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to Ionia Sparrow 
Hospice or Zion Food Pantry.
