Mr. Whorley was at the time of his death 92 years of age. He has made his home with his son for several years. Mr. Whorley was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, in 1831, and came to the United States when but 18 years of age. He first settled near Rochester, New York. He received his naturalization papers at Ionia, October 11, 1872. He came to Michigan in 1856, and bought a farm from the government in Easton township for a small sum. This place is known as the Whorley homestead. At that time the farm was covered with woods and inhabited with wild animals and Indians. He was married in 1856 to Miss Anna Lapp, of New York state. One son, Mathew Whorley, whose home was at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died about 11 years ago. Willis Whorley lived on the old homestead until his death in 1916. The two sons, Henry Whorley of Sebewa, and George, of Lansing, survive. He also leaves a stepson, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The funeral was held in Sebewa Tuesday afternoon.
