Oct. 21, 1968 Mrs. Edith M. Whorley, 83, died early Monday morning following a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Claude Whorley. Born in Paris, Michigan, September 25, 1885, she was the daughter of William and Achsa Loucks. She lived her entire life in Big Rapids, Easton township and Ionia. She was a former employee of J. C. Penney company in Ionia. A member of First United Methodist church, she was also a member of Order of Eastern Star and Rebekah lodges of Big Rapids. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Boersma of Pontiac and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Stone-Kauffman funeral home. Rev. Lester C. Bailey will officiate and burial will be at Easton cemetery. Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard - Thursday, October 24, 1968 Mrs. Edith M. Whorley Rev. Lester C. Bailey officiated at funeral services Wednesday for Mrs. Edith Malvina Whorley who died Monday. Interment was at Easton cemetery. Bearers were Melvin Boersma, Arnold Balzell, Robert Pierce, John Whorley, Elton Braman and James Adair. Attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Boersma of Pontiac, Arnold Boersma of Lakeville, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Whorley of Kokomo, Ind; Mr. and Mrs. Gus Gott of Orleans; Mr. and Mrs. Elton Braman of Belding; Mr. and Mrs. Limer Braman, Mr. and Mrs. John Whorley and family and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hilley all of Lansing; Royce Braman of Belding; Mr. and Mrs. Stan Michael, Mr. and Mrs. James Adair and Mrs. Lucille Javis all of Big Rapids; Bessie VanderWoude of McBain; Jackie Bruno of Lakeville; Mrs. Lylia Johnson of Lowell, Fern Conkrite and Gertrude Fishell both of Portland.
