                    WHORLEY

Herbert Jaye "Herb" Whorley, age 78 of Saranac passed away surrounded by his 
family July 7, 2024. He was born March 16, 1946 in Grand Rapids the son of 
Hubert G. and Wilma Mae(Bennett)Whorley.

Herb went to school in Ionia, graduating with the class of 1964, He worked at 
General Motors for 39 years. Herb was a member of the first Baptist Church of 
Lowell, where he was a deacon., Awana Leader and attended Mission Trips. He 
enjoyed Hunting, Fishing, Gardening and Bonfires. Herb raised Christmas Trees 
and had a Peach Orchard on his property over the years.He also refereed football 
games.

Surviving Herb are his children, Jaye(Sandy) Whorley of Saranac, Joseph Whorley 
& Heather of Ionia, Angelia Ingram of Lowell & Diana Naylor of Saranac. 
Grandchildren, Kyle VanDam, Rachel Whorley, Desiree Whorley, Rya Whorley, Grant 
Whorley, Dustin Chlebana, Leah (Matt) Grieves, Callie(Hunter) Pham, Sabin 
Ingram, Krista Melchert, Lilly Melchert, Jayden Naylor & Amelia Naylor. Great-
grandchildren,Norah Gorby, Quinn Gorby, Kolt Haller, Ellinore Grieves & Reece 
Grieves. Sisters, Marie (Michael)Miller of Kalamazoo,Susan (Keith) Ingraham of 
Saranac & Joseph (Colleen) Worley of Lake Odessa. Several Nieces & Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Ben Ingram.

Funeral services at the First Baptist Church in Lowell were held on Friday, July 
12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dennis Moles officiating. Interment at Easton 
Cemetery following at 2:30 p.m. Visitation was on Thursday 4-7 p.m. at the Lake 
Funeral Home in Saranac. In lieu of flowers those wishing may make memorial 
contributions to Branch Adventures of Roanoke Ranch. Online condolences may be
